Discografia Cradle of Filth

Cradle Of Filth é uma banda inglesa de Suffolk, Londres, formada em 1991. O seu estilo musical tem levantado muita discussão, pelo que se referenciará Extreme Gothic Metal e Symphonic Black Metal. Os seus temas líricos destacam-se por literatura gótica, poesia, erotismo, vampirismo, mitologia e filmes de horror. Aposta numa caracterização maquiavélica de criaturas guerreiras e demoníacas e numa teatralização de movimentos. É tida como uma das bandas mais espectaculares do género musical, e a que mais tem destacado novo público a esse domínio.É referido por muitos que Cradle of Filth trás consigo atrás o conceito musical que se auto denomina de Black Metal. Muitos toleram que se trata de um subgénero, tratando-o como Gothic Metal de forma extrema - Extreme Gothic Metal. Então, atualmente, Cradle Of Filth é classificada como Extreme Gothic Metal.

O próprio Dani Filth veio a público, numa entrevista, reclamar de que se trata de Heavy Metal. No entanto também já ouvimos solos de Thrash Metal, com alguma tendência dissonante, tal como é característico desse género. Poderá tratar-se da forma como a música é tratada e de como cada elemento da banda se transcende a nível melódico, rítmico e dramático, a fim de se concentrar o intuito da música na letra ou vice-versa. Também sabemos que, antes de se generalizar nesse conceito de Black Metal, que se inicia portanto no primeiro álbum intitulado "The Principle of Evil Made Flesh", se tratava antes de Death Metal, como as Demos nos demonstram. A nível de teclados, que começam a ter bastante relevância cadencial e melódica a partir do momento em que se compõem e divulgam os álbuns para a Music For Nations, intitulados de "Dusk ... and her Embrace" e "Cruelty and the Beast", onde neste último se confere e mistura uma textura com uma voz quase divina do canto gregoriano do século VI, à forma polifónica, tão actual, de características densas e melancólicas, tal o tributo à condessa Elizabeth Báthory, de confins imorais. O lado Symphonic Metal ou Symphonic Black Metal também é referido e tido em conta, entre os anos de 1996 a 2003, ano em que se estreia pela Sony Music e vem ao mundo o "Damnation and a Day", onde se utiliza uma pequena orquestra e um pequeno coro em estúdio, reavivando a memória dos críticos e dos melómaniacos da música de Cradle of Filth, da perseverança técnica de que se tinha mitificado com as suas actuações ao vivo dos anos entre 1994 e 1998. Nos anos de 2004 a 2006 planificam a evolução da banda a nível estético e comercial, retomando as constatações de Dani Filth, quanto ao facto da música de Cradle of Filth se tratar de Heavy Metal. Primeiro a sensação de que existe uma transfiguração na inclinação da alma e do coração à ninfa ou mulher amada, no titulo "Nymphetamine".
