Type O Negative

A história toda começa por volta de 1990, quando o baixista e vocalista Peter Steele havia saído do Carnivore e estava em busca de novos músicos. Se junta então ao baterista Sal Abruscato, ao guitarrista Kenny Hickey e ao tecladista Josh Silver.

Formado em 1988 pelo baixista Peter Steele (que tocava numa banda chamada Carnivore), juntamente com o baterista Sal Abruscato, com o guitarrista Kenny Hickey e com o tecladista Josh Silver, o Type O Negative conseguiu chamar a atenção de muita gente para o som que unia o heavy metal e o gótico acompanhado de um grande apelo visual sombrio, típico de filmes de vampiros, e letras abordando temas como religião, depressão, morte e sexo.

Seu primeiro disco, "Slow Deep And Hard" foi lançado em 91, talvez o mais pesado da banda. Seu segundo álbum, "Origin of the Feces" foi mixado para parecer ao vivo. Destaque para a versão da música "Hey Peter".

Em 1993 gravam seu grande sucesso, "Bloody Kisses" e conquistam muito espaço na mídia. "Black Nº1"” e "Christian Woman" estouraram nas rádios e na MTV. Após o lançamento Sal Abruscato saiu da banda por desentendimentos, sendo substituído por Johnny Kelly.

O próximo álbum a ser gravado foi "October Rust". Durante a turne deste álbum o Type o Negative preparou seu próximo CD, "World Coming Down", que foi gravado em 1999. Nesta época o grupo foi abalado por vários acontecimentos, incluindo a morte de familiares de Peter (vocalista), que tornaram as músicas ainda mais sombrias.
